Quik Pod review with Nokia video phone - it’s not just for digital still cameras

By quikblog | Aug 18, 2008

We love to see the Quik Pod used in new and innovative ways. Mark from TheNokiaBlog.com used a Nokia cell phone adaptor to attach his Nokia video phone to the Quik Pod. The results were very impressive.

“While traveling, it’s hard for me to trust a stranger to hold my expensive Nokia phone to take a picture. They might drop it or even worse run away with it. The Quik Pod fixes this problem for digital cameras by simulating an extended arm. By attaching the Nokia DT-22 to the Quik Pod, we now have a cool accessory to use for taking pictures or videos using our Nokia phones without the need of a stranger.” — Mark Guim, TheNokiaBlog.com

The Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers

DickRichie sent us some shots of current teen idols, The Jonas Brothers - which were taken among a sea of thousands that showed up at television station, MuchMusic to greet the boys.

There were thousands of screaming girls packed tightly around the stage. Waving signs and in general making it difficult to get a good shot. I used my quikpod to get my camera above the crowd and got some good shots.

quikblog: The Seattle Times thinks the quikpod is a Hot summer gadget for traveling

By quikblog | Jun 14, 2008

Nice of the The Seattle Times - Business and Technology section to pick the quikpod as a “Hot gadget for summer traveling.” It’s great to hear that columnist Etan Horowitz got great use of the quikpod on his travels.

I used the Quik Pod in Las Vegas this year, and it produced nice photos of me and my fiancée…Count on drawing attention to yourself while you use it. Several people came up and asked what it was and where we got it. - Etan Horowitz, The Seattle Times

quikpod spotted getting over the crowd at NHL Awards show red carpet arrivals in Toronto

By quikblog | Jun 13, 2008

The red carpet was out for the NHL Awards show held annually in Toronto. ChrisJ managed to get some great shots where the quikpod helped him get above and around the huge crowds that came out to greet the players and celebrities at the red carpet event.

The best part was when they brought out the Stanley Cup so a few of the Detroit Red Wing players could pose with the cup for the press. With the quikpod, I was able to get my camera through the crowd and on the red carpet. This shot is with Nicklas Lindstrom holding the Cup.

ChrisJ said he is using the quikpod DSLR package for both photo and video.

Skateboarder shoots very cool extreme sports video with the quikpod PRO+ camera accessory

By quikblog | May 5, 2008

Quikpod owner Clive just sent us this very cool video he made with his quikpod PRO+ We are starting to see the quikpod used in all types of innovative shooting ways. Keep the videos coming!

Grab the YouTube embed here.

I found the Quikpod Pro very useful for this vid - having the external lens of the Samsung on the end of the quikpod but being able to have the screen in your hand allows you to frame the shot easily whilst having the lens in whatever position you want. A lot of the shots in this video (especially those in the last third) would have been impossible without this combination or a lot of money to build scaffolding towers etc… It also allows you to get a close shot without the dangers of getting in close to the riders.
So, overall, two thumbs way up for the Quickpod Pro!
